Filmanthropist Project

Troy and I will be there. And possibly on the big screen as well.

Jennifer Pederson recently asked Troy and I if she could put together a short documentary about our work with Solutions Twin Cities for a local competition put together by the Filmanthropist Project.

She was running pretty close to the wire and we only had a weekend to organize the shoot (as evidenced by my unsightly neckbeard), but I think it all came together really nicely. Thanks Jennifer, and good luck!

First video out of Solutions Volume 3! More to come soon.
Antonio Rossell, founder of Community Design Group, talks about his passion for the city and alternative forms of transportation. I love it when the Latin music kicks in. (Sorry ladies, he’s taken.)

Thinking I should class it up a bit this time. You know, wear an actual shirt or something. [photo by Andy Richter]

Spent the night prepping Intermedia Arts for Solutions Volume 3. Here is a shot of the audience at our last event. Hoping SV3 is equally as awesome. [photo by Andy Richter]

Today...

… was really productive:

  • Went to bed early and slept in late (this is a great way to start your day).
  • Biked to Common Roots Cafe where I met up with Troy.
  • We were there from 12 to 10pm.
  • Over these 10 hours I consumed exactly 4 cups of coffee, 1 bagel with spread, 1 Rootsy Lucy (Thousand Hills beef stuffed with 12 month aged cheddar on foccacia with heirloom tomatoes, lettuce and aioli), and about 8 glasses of water.
  • I’d say we easily contacted over 100 people (SV3 presenters, past presenters and participants, local bloggers, writers, & media types, Facebook friends, etc.) with information about our upcoming event.
  • Troy noticed that the Solutions Twin Cities Facebook group hit 300 members today!
  • One presenter dropped out.
  • One presenter signed on.
  • We finished writing bios for everybody.
  • We began designing the programs for the event. They are about half way finished now and will get wrapped up tomorrow night.
  • We checked the 10 day forecast for Saturday. Still predicting 80 degrees and sunny!
  • We came up with 2 new slogans for our t-shirts, hopefully coming soon!

I’m sure I’m forgetting something… but all in all, a pretty great day! And now, I sleep.

The weblog has evolved to the point where, today, it’s possibly the most effective way of transmitting material that any of us could have imagined. Look at Tumblr. It’s the easiest thing in the world for writers to use — and also artists, photographers, videographers, spoken-word artists, musicians and a dozen other things. Imagine a jewellery maker, a laptop musician, a performance artist, a cartoonist and a short-story writer getting together on a single Tumblr to make themselves an internet channel. The tools are all there, baked right into the site for free. Not groupblogging so much as groupcasting.

Warren Ellis » The Patchwork Years.

This is basically what I have in mind for v2 of the Solutions Twin Cities website.

Betsy and I at the Solutions Happy Hour on April 1st, 2008. [via]

Update: I’ve since been informed that everyone in this photo set looks “HORRIBLE”… I disagree. A bit pasty perhaps, but not too bad after being shut inside for 6 months of miserable winter.
